SM7LCB, Microwave Summary 2012Last updated 9 February 2013.If this page looks bad when please use Firefox! Summary The year 2012 was very troublesome with many failures on my remote station. The good thing was that all the problems were related to the remote sites Internet connection. For example failure in local WLAN, error updating the dynamic DNS server with correct IP-address, change of Internet provider which gave need for rebuild of the local network and more error updating the dynamic DNS server with correct IP-address. The good thing is that the radio system is working nice but all the Internet connection made that I was unable to use the remote station during several month this year. I think I because of this may have missed several nice QSO and maybe also some new squares. But overall I think that the good conds was not so good this year. No major tropo or rain scatter openings in my log and haven’t seen any on DX-cluster. Just hope that I will have more online time during 2013 and hopefully some nice conds also. As noted below low activity and low online time but there is also big needs to upgrade the station equipment on all my bands. The list is very long what shall be improved and for sure it will take long time to update all the bands. Will see that I can do during the time until summer 2013 when I have time to install new equipment on site. Here is a list of what I want to improve: - 144 MHz, want to add preamp and add a power amplifier. - 1296 MHz, want to build new transverter with more output power and mounted near antenna. - 2320 MHz, want to build new transverter with more output power, lock oscillator to 10 MHz ref and mounted near antenna. - 3400 MHz, want to improve connection between antenna and transverter. - 10368 MHz, want to build new transverter together with 24 GHz using 0.6 meter offset dish Will see what will happen... 144 MHz Still no good station on 2 m. The small antenna (6el) is maybe not the problem but no preamp and low power is not good. But it's possible to work some long distance QSO with CW.
1.3 GHz No high activity during 2012 on 23 cm. No new squares in the log and much less QSO in log this year 159 compare with about 250 last year. Mostly because less activity related to my Internet connections problems during this year.
2.3 GHz Low activity as on 23cm but I got some new squares on this band thanks to some stations has build up 13 cm setup. The problem in Sweden in this year was that the 13 cm band on 2320 MHz was deleted as ham radio band allocation. But we still has the possibility to apply for special license for this band and we hopefully will be granted license even if it's only for 6 month period and it cost some money. New squares this year was: SP5QAT KO02LB #41 OH3LWP KP21AM #42 SP4MPB KO03HT #43
3.4 GHz On 3400 MHz we have to apply for special license and still we get access to the band in 6 month period (and cost some money). Activity lower as on 23 cm but I got some new squares on this band but only stations within Sweden. Very nice with new stations on this band in a country there we really on special license, but for how long will we have access to the band? New squares this year was: SM7DTE JO75CN #18 SM3BEI JP81NG #19
10 GHz Low activity here also and some problem as on 23 cm. No new squares and no good conds. Really hope something will happend on this band during 2013. During 2012 I changed antenna on this band. I was not happy with my 0.9 meter dish so I change back to my old Ericsson 0.6 m dish.
